We have celebrated #GivingTuesday for the fifth time now. Each hand can be a helping one

It doesn’t matter who you are or how you help. Each helping hand counts. “We should do good deeds all year round. However, on #GivingTuesday, we commemorate them in a special way. After the shopping frenzy of Black Friday, we invite people not to look at their needs only, but also to help their loved ones, friends or their communities,” explains Veronika Šoltinská, PR Manager of the Pontis Foundation.

Hands, whatever they are or whoever they belong, are the heroes of this year’s campaign. Because on #GivingTuesday, each hand can be helpful. “We intended to promote the idea of solidarity, reciprocity and to call on people to help each other, especially at a time when we feel the polarisation of society. Regardless of our beliefs or opinions, each of us can look around and lend a helping hand where they consider necessary,” adds Veronika Šoltinská.

The advertising agency Socialists created the idea of the campaign, the main visual and the video spot. The #GivingTuesday ambassador in Slovakia is the Pontis Foundation, which has covered the initiative for the fifth time now.

The campaign also includes recommendations for doing different good deeds that can inspire individuals, as well as companies and local governments. The Accelerator of Good Deeds on the website Mozempomozem.sk is here to help you choose which organisation to lend a helping hand. It randomly selects one of the registered entities applying for support and offers the opportunity to search for non-profits by region and focus.

The campaign will run until the end of November, when more than 150 countries around the world celebrate #GivingTuesday, a holiday of generosity, selfless giving and kindness. This is the opposite of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, the days of the shopping frenzy that precede Giving Tuesday.
